Alvisopoli,
"barchessa" of Villa Mocenigo
 |
 |
Founded at the beginning of the last century by count Alvise Mocenigo,
Alvisopoli became the centre of a vast area of reclaimed land. The complex consists of the
mansion, the house for the métayer, the buildings for the working of crops and even an
important printing press. Thanks to a fine restoration we can admire Villa
Mocenigo and the adjacent park in neo-classical style which houses the Alvisopoli
Oasi del Bosco managed by WWF of Portogruaro. In the nearby church
dedicated to S. Luigi we find works by artists who were followers of Canova and
some paintings that the Mocenigo family moved there from other holdings. |
