Annone Veneto,
S. Vitale's Church
Annone takes its name from " Ad Nonum" which means
placed at the ninth mile of the Roman road which went from Concordia to Oderzo.
S.Vitale church with a bell-tower was erected in the 15th
century on the foundations of a previous tower of the ancient
castle of Annone, or better of the walled-up castrum of
Annone. The high altar is a renaissance work of Rinaldo da
Portogruaro (1544); the altar piece of S.Fosca, from the 18th
century school of Piazzetta; the sacristy with a stone
wash-stand of the 15th century and 16th century frescoes.
The mansions of Annone Veneto, like some farmhouses,
were often decorated .we have an example in Casa rurale
Giannotto
(via Oltrefossa) with 16th century frescoes inside
the porch.
