THE DELTA OF THE RIVER PO

The area of the Po Delta was created by human intervention: the mouth of the Po was diverted towards the south by the Venetians in 1640. In less than four centuries the river’s deposits have caused the creation of an area over 400square kilometres, by far larger than that created in the previous sixteen centuries. The road connecting Portesine and Cason Moceniga crosses the "Valli di Rosolina" and reaches the Giardino Botanico Litoraneo and it is of particular natural interest. Here it is possible to follow three different routes (open from April to September – admission free).

From Chioggia, S.S. Romea towards Ravenna, follow the signs for Rosolina (c.22 km)
From Valle Averto, S.S. Romea towards Ravenna, follow the signs for Rosolina (c.52 km)
