Jesolo,
the walls of the ancient cathedral

Jesolo has ancient Roman origins and was surely a prosperous town thanks to its harbour activities and the salt trade, but from the 15th century its importance began to decline.
Later, in 1933, Jesolo began its transformation which made the town into one of the best equipped and most famous seaside resorts in Europe.
The Lido of Jesolo stands on a beach which extends for about 15km from the Piave estuary (Cortellazzo) to Cavallino lighthouse and is the destination of a great number of tourists, the most part foreigners, thanks to its climate, its very fine sand of dolomite origin and the pine woods overlooking the sea.
