Forte Carpenedo
The principal emplacements, at the highest point, were formed by six
pits placed over the attack front and predisposed to hold two pieces of artillery each.
Each emplacement had ramps which allowed the pieces of artillery to be positioned, an
elevator for bringing the munitions up from the depots below and a staircase which allowed
the soldiers to enter under cover directly from the passage below. The other principal
emplacements had admittance to the passage by a covered staircase, and two elevators,
while the base, now in stone, gives prominence to the presence of two pieces which could
rotate on a sort of rail with a very limited range, certainly inferior to 180°.
